Simon Says Stamp-tember Hop and Treasure Hunt !

Hi everyone,

This is my final Simon Says Stamp! challenge guest designer post. I've had so much fun playing along this month and send a big "Thank You" out to the Simon Says Stamp! design team for inviting me to play along with them.

For the second year in a row, Simon Says Stamp and Show & The Simon Says Stamp Challenge are joining
forces to bring you a SUPER hop and treasure hunt to celebrate the approaching fall and winter holidays.
To help celebrate we will be giving a BIG BASKET OF CRAFTING GOODIES to the winner of this hop! PLUS 3 $25 VOUCHERS to the Simon Says Stamp Store! The vouchers will be the hidden treasure on 3 DT blogs and you have to find them.

The Blog hop starts today (August 31st, 2011) on the Simon Says Challenge blog and will finish on September 5th, 2011 on the Simon Says Stamp & Show blog. The theme for both challenges this week will be ANYTHING GOES. You can make anything you like … a card, an ATC, a Scrapbook layout … the possibilitiesare endless! You will need to hop through each blog, find the little parcel of goodies and make a note on which designer’s blog you found them. You do not HAVE to comment on all the DT blogs but we would appreciate any comments you would like to leave. ;)  If you lose your way at any time a full list of all the participating blogs with links will be available on the Simon Says Stamp Challenge and the Stamp and Show Challenge blogs. For more details please refer to either blog.

If you arrived here from Debby's blog  then you are going in the right direction otherwise you need to start at the beginning on the Simon Says Stamp Challenge blog.

Here's my card:

I took a piece of the French Mint Core'Dination cardstock and adhered it backwards on the top section of my card base. I then cut a piece of patterned paper, torn the top edge, and adhered it in place. I then ran another piece of the Core'Dination cardstock through my die cut machine with the numbers embossing folder, sanded the raised area so the blue would show through, and ran it through the die cut machine with a tags die.
I stamped my greeting on a label and attached it to the tag using Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher. I threaded some lace ribbon and twine through the tag hole securing it with the Tiny Attacher before adhering the tag to the card.

Here is a list of the supplies I used:

- Number Collage Embossing Folder
- Stella & Rose: Gertie 6x6 paper pad
- Classic Messages
- Lace Ribbon
- Walnut Stain Distress Ink
- Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher
- French Mint Core'Dination cardstock (from Chocolate Box collection)

Feel free to send me an email if you have any questions about the card. :)

Your next stop is at the super talented Terry's blog.

Thanks for stopping by!

Here's this month's sketch:

Here's my card:

I took the sketch and stretched it side ways and didn't include the sentiment. I like the flexibility of sketches and how you can adjust them to fit your needs. :)

Paper Crafts September/October 2011 issue

Hi everyone,

Stopping by to share a card I made for Paper Crafts September/October 2011 issue. I made a bunch of cards for this call to use fabric and this was my last minute attempt (and my least favourite of the bunch) but the one that got picked up. Funny how that happens. :)

This one is extra exciting for me as it's my first card accepted in Paper Crafts 'regular' magazine as opposed to a special issue. More exposure, yes? ;)

Anyways, here's the card:

I used canvas to cover the entire card front and also for the flower and leaves. For full instructions check out the September/ October 2011 issue of Paper Crafts. TONS of great projects in here!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Lily Pad Cards meet Frog's Whiskers Ink

Hi All,

Hope you're all having a great week. I'm back today to share a card for this week's Lily Pad Cards challenge. This week's challenge is to use felt and/or fabric on your card and is sponsored by Frog's Whiskers Ink. The good folks over at Frog's Whiskers Ink sent the design team members a couple of stamps to work with. I used Sunflower Single Solid (F807) and Single Sunflower (D635) for my card.

Here it is:

I stamped the Single Sunflower stamp on white Sticky Back Canvas to create my background. I stamped the Sunflower Single Solid stamp on some pink paper for a tone-on-tone effect, embellishing it with a felt flower button and some twine.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Now, head on over to the Lily Pad Cards blog to see what fabulous projects the other designers have come up with and to get all the challenge (and prize) details.

Lily Pad/ Whimsie Doodles Colour Challenge

Hi everyone,

I'm back with this month's Lily Pad Colour Challenge.

Here are the colours we're working with:

Our sponsor this week is Whimsie Doodles. They sent the design team a bunch of adorable images to choose from for this week's challenge.

This week I decided to rebel and not make a card. ;)  When I saw the cute worm around the notebook I knew I wanted to use it to label the containers I'll be keeping my kids' individual workbooks, etc in for our homeschool.

The nice thing about digital images is that you can alter them. In my photo editing program I removed the 'notes' and replaced it with my kids' names. Here are a number of pics...

I used the Lily Pad colour combo for Jaden's label and did the other kids' in their requested colours. I used Prismacolor pencil crayons for all my colouring.

Thanks so much for dropping in. Please head over to the Lily Pad Cards blog to see what the other designers came up with and get the challenge details.

Simon Says Stamp! Christmas in August challenge

Photobucket

Hi everyone,

I'm excited to share that I'll be guest designing for the Simon Says Stamp! Challenge Blog this month. :) I love the good people of Simon Says Stamp! and their amazing customer service. They have the BEST shipping rates to Canada and go the extra mile to make their customers happy. Can't beat that. :)

This week's challenge (#119) is Christmas in August. If you make your own Christmas cards this is a great time to get started... helps do away with some of the stress come December. ;) Even better, you could win a $50 shopping spree with Simon Says Stamp! Someone will definitely get to celebrate Christmas early. ;)

Here's my Christmas card:

I cut a piece of Eggshell Layering paper slightly smaller than the notecard. I stamped it with the Envelop Pattern using the Shadow ink and distressed the edges with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. I stamped the tree and sentiment using Walnut Stain ink and embellished the tree with various Dots from Hero Arts. A small twine bow at the base of the tree and it's done.

Here is a list of the supplies I used (all Hero Arts unless otherwise noted):

- Envelop Pattern
- Merry Christmas Trees
- Swirl Tree
- Holiday Mixed Notecards
- Eggshell Layering Paper
- Soft Sand Shadow Ink
- Blush Dots
- Sea Dots
- Foliage Dots
- Walnut Stain Distress Ink (Ranger)
- Frayed Burlap Distress Ink (Ranger)
